now i know how Metallica felt with the 1989 Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock/Metal performance =P

2nd Place, baby !!! :D
with this piece of plastic [link]

it lost to a colorful, 10" cardboard robot, packaged in a cardboard box [link]


i gotta hand it to Cardboard Robot Guy. he had the guts to keep going with the same kind of design after losing to mine last year. Touche'!

The 'cardboard' entry was totally pimped. You can almost feel a TV AD come out of the box. Effective advertising of product can blind people at times.

Very impressive. Second place just means you gotta work a little bit harder next time... That or kill the competition. Both alternatives have their pros and cons.

That's why mainstream anything (music/movies) awards will always be GARBAGE to me! You don't know if someone's being bought out or if they're biased against you as it was clearly the case with Metallica. Yeah, you can call me anti-mainstream. being a cult/underground fan is cooler for me! :3

As for your work, and honestly, it has its raw edges but it should have won 1st place, specially considering the freaking "competition".

well, there's no hard feelings to the other guy. it was a fun & educational experience. it's pushing me to do better :D

and i' hoping he won't enter the contest next year. hahaha. =P

Nothing against the winner either. I just find the whole thing a bit odd. maybe if I see some picture of the event in question I could pass better judgment.
